Day 23. Home. 8.11.23

Image
Short walk this morning across the bridge. Lots of these big trees around.  Heading home and as usual I dragged it out by having coffee and a wander around Tiaro. Today we travelled 97kms taking our total travelled hitched to 1773kms. We drove about 620kms unhitched. This means our JJ has travelled 33,944kms and since retirement in early 2018 we have travelled 81,744kms while towing.

Day 22. Dickabram Bridge. 7.11.23

A few pics from our 7km undulating walk this morning. Afl supporters. Permanent Christmas garden display.  We've decided to stop at the Dickabram Bridge for the night. We popped into the Mi bakery on the way & Mark sampled an 'award winning' pie. We travelled a whole 23kms to the bridge.  Picnic area overlooking the Mary River.  We had a very relaxing afternoon reading and went for an evening wander. A few dark clouds around, hopefully there's a storm brewing.  Total travelled hitched so far is 1675kms. Tomorrow we're heading home 🏡

Day 21. Curra. 6.11.13

A few pics from my morning walk.  Some of the vans that were here for the weekend.  The possum still lives in the roof of the camp kitchen.  We have been here at least 6 times now. Our first time camped down on the lower creek area. Packed up and headed off about 9.30. We're going to take the scenic route via Jimboomba as we don't need to get to Curra until mid afternoon.  Lots of beautiful rain most of the way to Gympie.  We are staying at Tim and Kerry's home for the night. Due to rain we have parked down the side of the house not out in the yard like last time. Today we travelled 265kms.

Day 20. Canungra. 5.11.23

Wet and noisy over night. The big group of people on and around the oval had a band playing last night. While it was loud I managed to tune out about 9.30 and went to sleep. We had planned on going for a big walk and having breakfast at our favourite cafe in Canungra but it was raining so we drove in for a light breakfast. Then just made it in time to watch Oliver at his swimming lesson.  We spent the day at Rachel's again. Seth helped Mark Cook a BBQ lunch. It has rained all day in Nerang. Apparently they had 38mm today but in Canungra it was a lot dryer with only a couple of mms of rain falling.  Tomorrow we are moving further north again.

Day 19. Canungra. 4.11.23

Image
We tagged along with Rachel and the boys to watch Seth at little athletics. Mark and I walked a couple of kms pushing the babies in the pram while Rachel helped out with Seth's team. We then spent the rest of the day at their home. Our home amongst the trees.  The BoM is predicting up to 20mms of rain tomorrow.

Day 18. Canungra, Qld. 3.11.23

Morning walk to the beach, via the boardwalk.  Our only stop today was in Maclean for a coffee and a wander along the river.  Harwood bridge near Yamba. Welcome to Queensland and congested roads due to a multi year upgrade of the M1. Crawling along at 20km/hr. We are staying at the Canungra showgrounds for a few nights.  There is a rather large group here who have hired row after row of Jayco Journeys for a weekend away. The campground is almost full. We had dinner with Rachel and John and the boys and Seth and I had a great game of Rummikub before we headed back to the van.  It has been drizzling rain this evening. Today we travelled 306kms.

Day 17. Corindi. 2.11.23

Image
Caught up with some Blazeaid friends in Moonee this morning. Had a lovely morning tea and checked out their new home. With no real plan we headed to Woolgoolga for a look.  Murals at the RSL. Woolgoolga beach looked tempting for a paddle. All the caravan parks were fully booked so we moved on to Corindi. We are in a bush camp at a sports ground with lots of big old trees and only a short walk to the beach. Board walk down to the beach. Treasures on the beach.  We watched a whale playing for quite awhile.  Our home among the gum trees.  This huge tree has a hole in its trunk.  Today we travelled 66kms and walked 5kms.
